Python Coding Camps

Summer, 2019!

The Robert C. Byrd Institute will offer: Python Coding for Kids! Summer Camp in June. Campers from middle school to high school age will have firsthand experience coding in Python; the same powerful language behind sites like YouTube and DropBox can be a tool in YOUR toolbox.

You don’t need any experience with programming to get started! Campers will also explore careers in coding, information technology, and Source Validation as this course is conducted by Leeann Hesson. Leeann has served as public library Information Specialist, and staff librarian at Marshall University, edits books, and is currently librarian at Winfield High School! She is a coding instructor at RCBI, and loves to teach kids of all ages to code!

Don’t hesitate. Seating is limited, and we hope to see you and your campers right here at RCBI!

Maker Fundamentals:

Hydraulic Arm- Electromagnet!

Assembling and operating this hydraulic arm will teach basic mechanics and hydraulics; this entirely custom designed kit was created with free design tools, and cut on the X Carve in the Maker Vault!

You'll hand-build this project, made of wood, syringe cylinders, and dowel rods, using zip-ties and simple fasteners, and leave with a fully functional remote controlled hydraulic arm. This kit comes with either functional grippers and an electromagnet you'll make yourself!  Thursday May 30th at 5:30 pm...

"Mom & Dad Make!" means, a workshop for all ages! Even the very young when accompanied by an adult (children 7 and under may participate in this hands-on workshop with a guardian’s guidance).

These activities are "Scouts and Bots APPROVED", and help Scouts earn their Robotics Badges!

For kids from 8 to 80, regardless of age or experience, these workshops are fun introductions to the fundamentals of the wonderful world of making!
