  • Intro to TinkerCAD, lesson exercises

11:30 - Lunch!

  • Adopt a printer!!
    • Group-up and adopt a printer, each with a laptop, and we'll cater a print-slicing program to your printer
    • What is a print-slicer? Run some simulations, tweak some settings and find out!
    • MakerBot Print and CURA (slicers) will be demonstrated in detail!
  • Populate your print-bed with the Custom Keychain designs of your group, and get printing!
  • Receive your camp toolbox, I Can Solder badge, Screwdriver Set

Day 2.) (Tuesday) - Coding + Day!

Start in the Computer Lab!

  • Receive your camp booklet, engineering notebook and pen
  • Please note: Tomorrowno open-toed shoes or sandals!
  • Review prints from yesterday, receive key-chains and small printed items if you haven't already

Receive your Raspberry Pi Zero and all peripherals (connectors, and cables, and memory card)

As we're getting to know our Pi Zero LET'S GET TO KNOW ONE-ANOTHER BETTER TOO!

Let's search for some resources online!

Explore the CrowPi (Raspberry Pi) kit, with a fun flip-book project you'll get to code!

*Philip will be helping with this project, with our 3 CrowPi kits. Do the pencil and paper portion of the project at your desk, then we'll take turns coding your flipbook into an LED light matrix.

Rotate between the coding project, and your second 3D Design, file management, and slicing!

12:00 - Lunch!

Continue and complete your Raspberry Pi case print! If you've completed that, print your second small design project, and proceed to slicing and printing your design or customized download!

  • Put your Engineering Notebook and Pen inside and, place your name-tag on the outside!
    • *Leave it here, though, we'll be working from it during the week 😉 !

Day 3.) (Wednesday) - Manufacturer Tour!

8:30 - Camper Sign-in's/dropoff...

  • Tee Shirt Day! - Receive your 3DP Camp tees and put them on

9:00 - Head to TOYOTA, Buffalo, WV!!

  • Tour, Snack, take in a presentation
  • Tour Manufacturing space, where engines & transmissions are being produced!
  • Group Photo day!
    • RCBI out standing in our field... 😀
    • Toyota out in front...

12:00 - Lunch! Pizza Hut buffet Hurricane, WV

1:00 - Return, tie up loose ends, ready for pickup

Day 4.) (Thursday) - Soldering & Pi Day!

3DP - receive your models and prints!

What was successful, what prints failed and why?

Slicing tips and tricks...

  • Learn about effects of raftssupport, and Bridging


  • Who does NOT have any 3D Prints?
  • Specifically... who does NOT have a Pi Zero 1.3 Case...?

* Work with us to get these sliced and on the print-bed, using your Google Drive Folders.


We will split into 2 groups, 1 & 2

1 - Will go to the MU Grad School building with Philip and Deacon

  • This group starts with boot-up of your pi in the computer lab, and exploration of its contents and resources!
  • Games, coding, play and learning!
  • *If you haven't done your binary animation, do this too!

2- Will go to the 3D Printing lab for our soldering exercise, and to solder pins on your boards!

~~After Lunch We'll swap!~~

  • Watch guide video for basic soldering
  • I Can Solder! Badge Kit: This video will help us, step by step...
  • Safety Review! Then solder your button kit

Flex-day: We'll be orbiting between different areas

Continue STEM kits until EVERYONE has completed the following exercises:

  • Project Finish-up!
    • 3D Design/Printing
    • Soldering
      • *Tail-end, Finish-up... MUST PRINT QUICK!
      • *This is for finishing Pi Cases, etc!
  • CrowPi
    • PLAY!
    • Pick a project & Explore!
      • *Use the provided CrowPi book to explore projects in groups of 3 per Pi.
      • Make sure everyone in your group gets a turn at the helm!
  • Sphero
    • Two Groups of 6 each go head-to-head on an obstacle course challenge
    • PLAY: Driving & Control!
    • Drawing & sensor feedback
    • Code your robot to navigate the course autonomously!
      • You'll have 10 minutes to play and draw
      • You'll have 20 minutes to code your robot's navigation
      • Your team will have 3 attempts at the obstacle course; even the failed attempts count!
      • You'll receive points for completed obstacles, and points for the percentage of the course traversed.
      • *Winning teams get a prize or recognition!

If you've completed your projects and CrowPi, jump in and help your pals get through; learn, and grow!

12:15 - Dessert: LEAN Manufacturing Exercise; ICECREAM!

12:45 - Cleanup & prepare for Mini Maker-Fest!
